A home theater entertainment experience
Change is a constant in consumer technology. It affects the way we work, live and interact. For an airline, responding to different changes in passenger trends presents challenges. As an industry, we need to approach IFEC differently.
It’s not about creating technology for technology’s sake – it’s about innovating with purpose.
Panasonic’s NEXT IFEC platform is built specifically in response to our generation’s trends and challenges. NEXT is a not a traditional IFEC system. It’s the industry’s most powerful business platform, enabled by Panasonic’s ecosystem of value-added services, tools, applications, and partnerships. It’s a tailored solution that’s as unique as each airline.
No news is not good news for productivity flyers who make their living by staying in-the-know.
While we often associate the front of the plane with movers, shakers and decision makers, the growing number of people joining the gig economy tend to fly in Economy. These freelancers and independent workers make up a hidden class of productivity flyers — a group of people who in the U.S. numbered 54 million in 2015, or about 33 percent of the entire U.S. workforce, according to a study by Upwork and the Freelancers Union. This gig-economy trend doesn’t only exist for Americans, either; it is spreading throughout the modern world. In the airline context, these professionals are as eager to stay on top of the latest news as those sitting where the pricey seats are.
This change in the workforce — and in the types of people who regularly fly — has coincided with changes in the perks offered by airlines.
Panasonic Avionics incorporates cutting-edge technology into its Cabin Management Systems (CMS) to deliver lightweight, low power solutions that are easy to install and operate, and reduce the inflight workload of the airline cabin crew. Panasonic’s latest innovation is an integrated solution that enables the cabin crew to control the entire inflight experience, from the environment to entertainment.
The graphical user interface (GUI) based cabin crew terminal was designed in conjunction with major aircraft manufacturers and cabin crews. Intuitive and easy to use from a single terminal, the PA and inter-plane communication systems can be operated, cabin lighting adjusted, and the “No Smoking” and “Fasten Seatbelt” alerts illuminated and turned off. Water and waste levels can be tracked, while the integrated maintenance features enable onboard system monitoring and troubleshooting.
